The Object in the End

We are all headed towards something, a goal in the end; something that will magically change our lives. We think so, Yes? There has to be something in the end, something that will change everything.

Whether we realize or not, we all believe this. Try and think of the future, not the near future, not next weekend, not next year, but the future as a concept. Think of what is left in your life, it is hard to think of, right? But you still have that feeling, deep down that things are going to be different, you aren’t going to be working the same job, you won’t have the same friends, things will be different. A change in the end.

But the twist is; That change won’t happen, That thing doesn’t exist.

That thing, that change, is what I call: the Object-in-the-End. The thing that will change everything, change our job, change our friends, change our life. Something that is the end-goal, something we are headed for. But it doesn’t exist.

Think of this, you always say “Can’t wait until Friday!” because you think Friday, the future, will make everything magically better. Will change the core of your life, but it is only a temporary solution. Because the next week you will go back to work, doing the same chores once again. This isn’t a change, but you still hope for it, you keep on saying “Can’t wait until Friday!” because your concept of ‘Friday’ is the Object-in-the-End. Something that doesn’t exist, but you still think will happen. And when it happens will magically change everything.

You may even be conscious of this, as many of us are. You may realize that it won’t change your life; but even those conscious of it still abide by it. They still have that secret hope pushed down that one day in the future everything will be better.

It is impossible to not think this! Why would you think that everything will stay the same, it can’t! No way will everything stay the same, there has to be something more to life! It won’t just end! I won’t just live a meaningless life working for 50 years just to die, I won’t let it! There has to be something!

But in reality, there is nothing. There is no Object-in-the-End. It will never exist, and it never has. Nothing will magically change, if you don’t give your life meaning, you won’t get meaning. Meaning does not appear out of nowhere, it is not something that ‘Will happen eventually…’ it is something you must grasp, you must take in the moment.

The Object-in-the-End is simply the embodiment of our Ideology that meaning is essential, and that everybody gets it eventually, so you don’t need to create it; It will just come.

It doesn’t. You must grasp the meaning while you are here, you must create it, you must form it, you must give it to yourself. You must actualize yourself, liberate yourself, unite yourself. And that, that struggle with meaning, that rejection of the Object-in-the-End, that movement, that creation. That is what gives yourself meaning.
